A new university press

The world of scholarly research dissemination, teaching, and learning has changed since the award-winning Policy Press was founded just over 20 years ago, and our aim is to support the changing needs of our international community.

Bristol University Press was founded in October 2016 to give Policy Press a means to expand into new areas and access a broader stream of research that will allow it to grow and flourish throughout the world. Policy Press will continue to publish impactful work in the areas for which it is known.

It also reflects the commitment of the University of Bristol to support the creation and dissemination of the highest quality research throughout the world and to encourage teaching and learning innovation.

There has been a resurgence in support for university presses among scholars and educational institutions around the world. Indeed, the university press is increasingly viewed as the ideal partner for scholars who wish to achieve a close working relationship with their publisher and communicate their work to the broadest possible academic audience.

As a not-for-profit press we will be focused on serving our community not share-holders.

“University presses are a crucial part of our intellectual, social and cultural landscape. It is a privilege to play a larger role in it than ever before.”
