Ed Fay

Ed Fay is Interim Director of Library Services at the University of Bristol, responsible for library strategy and service delivery during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Ed’s career has been devoted to academic library innovation and leadership with a particular focus on digital scholarship including open research and blended education.

Joanna Ball

Meet the Board Member

Joanna Ball

Joanna Ball is Head of Roskilde University Library, a service which is delivered in partnership with the Royal Danish Library. She also leads the Royal Danish Library’s Open Science strategic initiative to develop collaborative Open Science services across its three university libraries: Aarhus, Copenhagen and Roskilde. Joanna previously held a number of roles within UK libraries, most recently Associate Director for Academic Services, Content Delivery and Digital Strategy at the University of Sussex. She is currently Vice Chair of UKSG.

Andrew Barker

Andrew Baker is Director of Library Services at Lancaster University Library and Chair of United Kingdom Serial Group (UKSG). Prior to that, he held a number of senior roles within diverse university libraries, including both Russell Group and Post 1992 Institutions. Throughout his career in Higher Education, Andrew has worked in partnership with university presses whenever possible.

John Furlong

John Furlong is Associate University Librarian for Research and Academic Collaboration Services at Washington University in St. Louis Library. John leads library planning and programming that serves scholar-oriented services in support of research, instruction, and learning. He also facilitates the design and implementation of collaborative partnerships and innovations that respond to the evolving needs of faculty and students. He has previously worked at various library institutions, including the Hester J. Hodgdon Libraries for All Program in Nicaragua and the Maria De Mattias Library and Resource Center in Guatemala.

Rebecca Gower

Rebecca has worked in a variety of libraries in Cambridge. She started her current role as Collection Development and Academic Liaison Librarian at Cambridge University Library in 2016, where she is responsible for the acquisition of English-language monographs (print and electronic) in the arts, humanities and social sciences from across the world.

Debra Hiom

Debra Hiom is an Assistant Director in Library Services at the University of Bristol with responsibility for Research Services, which includes Open Access, Research Data Management and metrics, Digital Humanities and Special Collections. Debra has over 25 years’ experience of running a portfolio of national projects and information services with particular interests in resource discovery and digital scholarship.

Pete Maggs

Pete Maggs is Director of Library Services at Western Sydney University Library. He has over 25 years’ experience in Higher Education Libraries and he previously served as Director of Library Services and Learning Development at Lancaster University in the UK. He is committed to a dynamic approach to service delivery, engagement and collaboration with a focus always on ensuring a deep understanding of the needs of users.

Anthony Sinnott

Anthony Sinnott is Access and Procurement Development Manager at the University of York Library. He oversees the purchase of print and electronic resources, the management of subscriptions and databases, and the operation of the reading list system and digitisation. He has a background in public libraries, having played a key role in setting up Explore York Libraries and Archives as a Social Enterprise. In addition, Anthony participates in the wider sector work via the Northern Collaboration Content Special Interest Groups and the Executive Committee for the National Acquisitions Group.

Nicola Scally

Nicola Scally is Director of London School of Economics Library and the Librarian of the British Library of Political and Economic Science, which includes the Women’s Library. Nicola’s career has focused on leading change in libraries in order to meet the demands of a digital world, with roles at the British Library, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and Imperial College London. Nicola has contributed to a number of national and international initiatives in support of evolving the role of research libraries, she served as Chair of Research Libraries UK from 2017-2019, and was previously a member of the UK Committee for the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme.
