Senior Editorial Assistant

We are looking for a Senior Editorial Assistant (SEA) to work within the dynamic Commissioning Team. The SEA will work with two editors to support our prestigious social policy list and fast-growing politics list. The position would suit someone already working in an editorial role who would like to take the next step in their career – or someone with a postgraduate qualification in either subject who would like to move into academic publishing.

Your should apply if you are an ambitious and driven candidate who can play a key role building an exciting publishing programme and contributing to the success of BUP.

Comissioning Editor

We are looking for a Commissioning Editor to join our dynamic and committed team and manage our growing Law list for a maternity cover of 12 months from September 2021.

As the current Senior Commissioning Editor of the Law list has developed a clear strategy and publishing pipeline, the Press is flexible about appointing at either Associate Commissioning Editor, Commissioning Editor or Senior Commissioning Editor level dependent on the right candidate and their experience. Targets and overall duties will be adjusted accordingly based on the attached job descriptions.

You should apply if you have proven experience of commissioning in academic publishing, ideally within the social sciences and a track record of managing commercially successful lists.

Production Editor

We are looking for a Production Editor to join our book production team. You will be responsible for handling the prepress activities required to produce our academic products, in print and digital formats, ensuring that titles are produced to schedule and to our high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and skills.  This role presents an opportunity to join a team with a passion for publishing in social sciences and an ambitious plan to grow the list. As part of a relatively small production unit you will gain experience across a broad range of publishing activities and have an important influence in our future success.
