Khursheed Wadia is an Associate Professor at the University of Warwick and teaches in the area of gender, politics / policy and development. Her research interests centre broadly on gender and politics and her work, which has benefited from UK research council grants, examines the relation between gender, ethnicity / race and women’s political engagement in formal and informal arenas in the UK and France.
Her latest book Muslim women and power: political and civic engagement in West European Societies (co-authored with Danièle Joly) addressed the question of how and why women from Muslim communities participate in politics, in post 9/11 Europe. It won the Political Studies Association’s Mackenzie prize for the best political science book in 2018.
