Marcel Bursztyn is a full professor at the University of Brasilia, in the Center for Sustainable Development in Brazil.
He has a B.Sc. in economics and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; Diploma in Planning Studies at the University of Edinburgh, Ph.D. in Social and Economic Developement - Université de Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne; and Ph.D. in Economics - Université de Picardie-France. He has experience in social-economy, with emphasis on Sustainable Development, working on the following themes: regional development, public policies, sustainability, Amazon, Northeast Brazil, environmental management, climate change, interdisciplinarity; and ethics and research. He is chief-editor of the Journal Sustainability in Debate. He was a Senior Research Fellow in the Sustainability Science Program at Harvard University and visiting professor at Université de Paris 3, Université de Rennes 2, and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
