Global Social Challenges Journal

Global Social Challenges Journal operates on a Gold open access basis. Until the end of June 2025, we are waiving compulsory Article Processing Charges (APCs) on all submissions. This means that authors are able to publish their articles and special collections free of charge. We do welcome voluntary contributions from those with funder support for Gold OA publishing. In this case, authors will either pay our full standard APC of £1,560+VAT, or contribute whatever funds they have available on a 'pay what you can' model.

If you have some funding to contribute but are unable to pay the full fee, contact the Managing Editor, Sarah Bird, to discuss your individual case.

Where the first author of an article comes from a low-income country, they will automatically qualify to publish free of charge, while other standard discounts will apply in high and middle-income countries. Submissions to our 'Interventions' section will not incur charges until further notice.
