Bristol Poverty Institute Conference 2021

'Poverty and the Sustainable Development Goals: From the Local to the Global.' The Sixth Peter Townsend Memorial Conference

The Bristol Poverty Institute Conference 2021 is underway.

As part of this online conference, we have created this virtual space so that we can connect with everyone we would have at the physical event. We are also offering you 50% off a selection of our latest books, as well as free content from the Journal of Poverty and Social Justice. You can also find out about our new Global Social Challenges Journal: Non-profit, open access publishing for change.  See details below.

One of our key aims as a publisher is to focus on the global social challenges we face. Our social world is rapidly changing with the development of new technology, challenges to expertise and evidence-based knowledge, the effects of climate change, continued poverty and inequality, and now the need for COVID-19 recovery.

Meet the Editor

Laura Vickers-Rendall, Commissioning Editor

I’ve been at Policy Press for eleven years, starting as a graduate in Sociology (I used a number of Policy Press titles throughout my degree). I have had several roles in the commissioning team on the majority of the core Policy Press subject areas over the years.

I enjoy meeting existing and potential authors and talking through their research. Building those relationships over the period of time from inception of a potential book idea to publication is especially enjoyable. It is really rewarding to be able to produce books that authors and editors are proud of.

If you are interested in writing for us, please contact me at laura.vickers@bristol.ac.uk or visit our information for authors page to download our proposal guidelines.
