Do you have a project for us?

New Series

We are delighted to be publishers of the Bristol Studies in Comparative and International Development series.  The series started life as Professor Michael Crossley’s highly successful Bristol Papers in Education: Comparative and International Studies series, established in the 1990s.  Updated and revamped, with a new series editor line-up, Bristol University Press are delighted to have taken over as publishers for the series this year.

We are proactively commissioning for the series and welcome proposals for single/co-authored monographs, edited collections or ‘Shorts’ – books of between 30-50,000 words.  If you would like to discuss projects – at any stage of development – please contact the series editors, or Philippa Grand, Publisher, at Philippa.grand@bristol.ac.uk.

Philippa Grand

Philippa Grand, Publisher

After completing my PhD in Modern British History at the University of Manchester in 2002 I moved into the world of academic publishing, working with leading publishers including Manchester University Press and Routledge. I spent ten years at Palgrave Macmillan, commissioning in various subject areas across the social sciences, but mostly with a focus on sociology.

I’m delighted to be part of the team at Bristol University Press, whose mission as a not-for-profit scholarly publisher looking to make a real difference is one I deeply admire. I’m passionate about the importance and value of social science research to society, keen to understand more about how interdisciplinarity is changing the research landscape, and privileged to work with academics and researchers who are examining some of the most pressing issues of our times.
